Grant will fund SRO officer at Fayetteville Alternative School

75,ooo endowment grant to the Fayetteville Police Department from the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security is being used to fund a new School Resource Officer (SRO) position at Fayetteville Alternative

Previously, the Police Department received $225,000 in grant funds for SROs at Fayetteville High School, Fayetteville Middle and Ralph Askins School on July 25, 2025.

To receive the additional $75>ooo funds, the Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved amending the Statewide School Resource Office Grant Program A $ School.

Endowment Grant contract for a total contract amount of $300,000.

According to the contract, the Fayetteville Police Department will receive the $75,000 in a lump sum “upon approval of the Endowment Grant Contract Amendment One.”

Vice Mayor Jeff Bradford made a motion to add a SRO position at Fayetteville Alternate School. Alderman Dorothy Small seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved.

Alderman Mike Keenan next made a motion to amend the Endowment Grant Contract Amendment One to accept the $75,000 for the additional SRO. Vice Mayor Bradford seconded the motion, which was unanimously approved with all aldermen present.
