An elderly Fayetteville woman was scammed of thousands of dollars by a former employee of a Huntsville Highway vehicle dealership.

According to a report prepared by Fayetteville Police Sgt. Ryan Cole, the woman was asked by the man if he could borrow $ 18,000, saying he would pay her back with $25,000 several days later. He gave her a handwritten agreement of the loan for $25,000, the report stated. The woman has not heard back from the man.

Sgt. Cole spoke with the management of the company and confirmed that the man was previously employed there.
