Thomas Joshua ‘T.J.’ Payne, 39, of Flintville, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

He was born in Winchester, Tennessee on Aug. 17, 1983, son of the late Tommy Lynn and Mellissa Robin Owens Payne. T.J. was an employee of Genesco.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Andrea Marie Payne and grandfather, Tom Payne.

Mr. Payne is survived by his daughter, Robyn Ann Payne; sons, Tommy Lynn Payne and Joshua Breyer Newgent; sisters, Angela Howard and Kayla (Cody) Bryant; grandmother, Allean Mayes Simmons; aunt, Cindy D. Simmons (Matt Meeks); and uncles, Randy Payne and Ringo Payne.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023 in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home. Burial followed in Elora Cemetery.

The family would like to express special thanks to Rodney Howard, HH-Lincoln Health Ambulance Service, Vanderbilt Life Flight and Vanderbilt Medical Center, especially the Medical Critical Care Tower. The family would also like to thank those who have shown love to them through thoughts, prayers, phone calls and messages.
