Lloyd Steelman, 85, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, passed away Friday, Jan. 27, 2023.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Prospect Baptist Church with Brother Kevin Davis officiating. Burial followed at Flintville Cemetery with Gene Fanning presiding.

Lloyd was born to JD Steelman and Ortha Inman Steelman on Feb. 3, 1937. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, R.M. Steelman, Joel A. Steelman, Robert Steelman, twin brother Boyd Steelman, Luverle Steelman Thrasher, Grace Steelman Lackey, and Viola Steelman Riggins.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sandra Ruth Smith Steelman; sons, Mike (Vanessia) Steelman and Steve (Holly) Steelman; grandchildren, Ryan Steelman (Chelsea), Morgan Steelman (Tim Crawford), Annie Steelman Jones (Austin), Emily Steelman; and great-grandchildren, Eric and Jayce Steelman.

Mr. Steelman served his country as a teletype operator in the U.S. Army. He then used these skills during the Cuban Missile Crisis working at AEDC in Tullahoma Tennessee. He continued working at AEDC for more than 35 years and retired as an office machine specialist. He loved his family and was a member of Prospect Baptist Church. He served God by teaching Sunday School, serving as Deacon, working with Disaster Relief, volunteering with youth and children, delivering meals to shut-ins and countless other ways. He served his community for 10 years on the Lincoln County Tax Board and as a poll worker during elections.
