Nancy Caroline Freeman, 85, of Owens Cross Roads, Alabama, formerly of Fayetteville, Tennessee, passed away Friday, July 28, 2023, at Barfield Health and Rehab in Guntersville.

Funeral services were Monday, July 31, 2023, at Higgins Funeral Home with Carol Holt officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Nancy was born on Jan. 31, 1938, in Bradley, Illinois. She worked for Hardees and later as a nurse’s aide at Lincoln Care Center in Fayetteville. Ms. Freeman was a devout Christian. She loved the Lord, her family, and was a member of Jesus Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie (Michael) Bailey of Rainsville, Alabama, Sylvia (Robert) Strong of Fayetteville, and Gloria (Rodney) Honea of Owens Cross Roads, Alabama; grandchildren, Camille (Bryan) Raby, Amanda (Kane) Rigsby, Michael (Josh) Bailey, Stacy Howard, Austin (Carrie) Williams, and Aaron (Stephanie) Barron; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Abigail, Olivia, Zachary, and Skylar Rigsby, London Williams, Harper Neely, Hamilton and Sterling Raby, and Naomi Williams; and a sister, Janit Hull.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Fredric Vagt and Florence Uretta Houseworth; daughter, Gail Carolyn McGunnis; brother, Fred Vagt Jr.; and a sister, Beverly Rankin.
