Robert Melvin Honea, 90, of Taft, Tennessee, went to the arms of his Heavenly Father on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023.

He was born Oct. 22, 1932, to Richard and Liza Honea. Mr. Honea was the owner of Melvin’s Truck Center in Taft and attended Kirkland Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Eula; and his siblings, Grady Honea, Winnie Simms, Irene Hopkins, Annie Pearl Payne, Coy West, and Jimmy Honea.

Mr. Honea is survived by his daughter. Cindy (Dan) Sparkman of Guntersville, Alabama; son, Walter (Sindi) Honea of Taft, Tennessee; grandchildren, Lindsey (Amaechi) Arinze, Garret (Lauren) Honea and Jared Honea; step-grandchildren, Jeremy Sparkman and Brian (Amber) Sparkman; 11 great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Lilly.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023, at Kirkland Baptist Church with Bro. Jeremy Hudgins and Bro. Billy Langford presiding. Honorary pallbearers were James Vaughn, Jimmy Sartain, Steve Bates, Dennis Warren and Ennis Hyman. Burial followed in Kirkland Cemetery.
