Jeffrey Mark Shelton, 62, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, Oct.22, 2023 at Lincoln Medical Center. He was born on Jan. 31, 1961, son of the late Oliver Lee Shelton and Sarah Juell Pitts Shelton.

Mark was a 1979 graduate of Flintville High School. He was a master welder for heavy artillery equipment, and he worked with the Federal Department of Defense Contractors in support of Army readiness for both the US and Foreign Allies. Mark traveled and worked on armored vehicles at US military bases and overseas bases in Germany, Iraq, and Kuwait. He was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. In his spare time, Mark enjoyed gardening, fishing, and canoeing. He also volunteered as a baseball and assistant football coach at South Lincoln School.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Gerald Lee Shelton, Dennis Boyd Shelton and Jacky Shelton, and great nephew, Zack Simmons.

Mr. Shelton is survived by his wife of 42 years, Vonnie Hightower Shelton; daughter, Jada Miranda Shelton (Marc Carr); sons: Daniel (Kecia) Shelton and Brandon Shelton; grandchildren, Sariah Shelton, Madison Shelton, M.J. Carr and Rivers Shelton; sisters, Bennie McGee and Becky (Ron) Shockley; brothers: Harold (Kathy) Shelton and Randall (Gayle) Shelton; as well as many nieces and nephews and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Lones officiating. Burial followed in Lincoln Cemetery.
