Barbara Joan Cline Obituary

Barbara Joan Cline, 67 of Fayetteville, Tennessee, passed from this life on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, from complications of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease).

She was born in New York City and grew up in Rochester, New York. She joined the United States Army in 1982 where she was trained as an executive administrative assistant. She was assigned to I Corps in Ft. Lewis, Washington, where she worked as the administrative assistant for a number of I Corps commanders, to include General “Stormin Norman” Schwartzkopf when he was a three-star general before Desert Storm.

Barb transitioned from being a soldier to being an Army wife. She and her former husband spent eight years in Atlanta, Georgia, where she worked as a legal secretary. They moved to Washington, DC and spent another eight years.  This is where Barb learned and started teaching pottery. She loved throwing clay on a wheel.

After retirement from the Army they moved to Fayetteville, Tennessee.  Once settled, Barb started learning and excelling at the art of quilting. She enjoyed her time with the Lincoln County Piecemakers Quilting Guild and the Huntsville Quilting Guild. Barb made friends wherever she was and could always be depended on. She was loved and will be missed by many.

Barb never had children but was warmly greeted at the Rainbow Bridge by her many beloved pets, especially her Dalmatians, Louie, Cupcake and Buddy.

She asked for no services but will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery’s Columbarium at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in her name to the ALS Association of Tennessee.
