Donnie D. Amason Obituary

Bro. Donnie D Amason, 76, passed away to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024, at his home in Elora, Tennessee. Donnie was a highly-decorated Vietnam veteran, retired minister, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. He was born on April 13, 1948, in Fayetteville, Tennessee, to Olsa Clifford (O.C.) and Mary (Counts) Amason.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Joe, Harold (Doc), and James Barkley (J.B.) Amason and two sisters, Vena Russell and Shelby McKee.

He is survived by the love of his life of 54 years, his wife, Helen (Buchanan) Amason of Elora, Tennessee; son, Christian B. Amason (Norma) of Ooltewah, Tennessee; and daughter, Bethany D. Sowell (Albert) of Pulaski, Tennessee; one brother, Robert Amason (Judy) of Lebanon, Tennessee; special sisters-in-law that were held dear to his heart, Christine Amason, Sheila Tanner, and Sherry Manness. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and two foster grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024, with Dr. Josh Moran officiating. Interment followed, with military honors, at the Flintville Cemetery, Flintville, Tennessee. Pallbearers were Darryl Amason, Johnny Amason, Preston Wells, Karen Wells, Micah Amason, and Tyler Sowell.
