Karen Wallace Colbert Obituary
Karen Wallace Colbert, 67, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, passed away on Dec. 13, 2024, at Viva Senior Living, formerly Lincoln Manor, in Fayetteville. Higgins Funeral Home and the family said it is with regret they announce her passing.
Karen was born on Aug. 10, 1957, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Carroll Davis Wallace Jr., and Lucille George Wallace. She earned an associate’s degree and dedicated her career to nursing, serving at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Florida, and West Jefferson Hospital in New Orleans. A member of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, Karen cherished her time in Bible study at Lincoln Manor, had a deep love for reading, and was a proud participant in Celebrate Recovery.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Dean Colbert; sister, Paula Distler and her husband Carl, and Karen’s beloved cats. In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her first husband, Leonard Royce Childs.
A life celebration will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024, at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Vann and Bro. Keith Couch officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the service. Private interment will take place in Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Celebrate Recovery Outreach at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, 200 Elk Ave. N., Fayetteville, TN 37334.
