Billy Joe Young Obituary

Billy Joe Young, 65, of Kelso, Tennessee, passed away on Feb. 28. 2025, at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Lincoln County, Tennessee, on June 28, 1959, to the late William Lee and Gladys Mae (Anders) Young.

He mastered an impressive array of skills throughout his life, from carpentry, plumbing, farming, and mechanical work. Friends and family often marveled at his ability to fix anything and everything he touched. He would transform challenging projects into enjoyable adventures. 

Billy’s warmth extended beyond his family. He was known for his infectious laughter, and generous spirit, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Friends and neighbors often sought after his advice, whether it was home repairs or life’s challenges, and he was always ready to offer support. Billy’s legacy of hard work, kindness, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Joe Young. He is survived by his loving siblings, Betty (Dewayne) Smith and Bobby Young; nieces, Miranda Smith and Michelle (David) Allen; great-nieces and great-nephews, Victor Allen, Novalee Allen, and Maverick Allen; and another one on the way.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at Jennings Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1 p.m.
