Stanley Jay Mitchell Obituary
Stanley Jay Mitchell, 65, of Frankewing, Tennessee, passed away on April 6, 2025, at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Bunker Hill Church of God, with Pastor Tommy Frady officiating. Burial followed in Storey Cemetery.
Born on Jan. 10, 1960, in Lincoln County, Tennessee, Stanley was the son of the late Lyndall Mitchell and Wanda Ree Storey Mitchell. Known as “Jay-Bird,” he was a graduate of Boonshill School and earned a degree in agriculture from Middle Tennessee State University.
Stanley was a lifelong farmer, devoted to the land and the legacy of his family. Together with his family, he raised dairy cattle and grew tobacco — a tradition he honored throughout his life. His faithful companion, a dog named Buddy Boy, was often by his side in the fields and on the farm he loved.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Deby Mitchell of Frankewing; sisters, Sharon Robinson of Knoxville, and Valeree (Chris) Pitman of Mt. Juliet; nephews, Andy (Peyton) Pitman and Alex (Alexis) Pitman; and great-niece, Paxton Pitman.
