Katie Sue Ford, 88, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, passed away on May 5, 2025, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia.
She was born on March 25, 1937, in Lincoln County, Tennessee, to the late Robert and Nellie Sue (Vance) March. Katie was a lifelong resident of Fayetteville.
She was a woman of faith and a devoted member of Mary’s Chapel, where she was actively involved and found great comfort and strength in her spiritual community. Katie’s home was a place of warmth and love, a testament to her dedication as a homemaker. She had a special gift for nurturing and caring for children, and her passion for babysitting brought joy to many families over the years. Her gentle nature and loving heart made her a favorite among the little ones she cared for. A true culinary artist, Katie was renowned for her delicious cooking, especially her legendary egg custard pies. Her pies were more than just dessert; they were a taste of her love and generosity, a treat eagerly anticipated at family gatherings and church functions. The aroma of her baking filled her home with happiness, a memory that will forever be cherished.
Katie will be remembered for her sweet personality, her infectious smile, and her unwavering kindness. She approached life with grace and humility, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Collier Hockett; second husband, Jimmie Ford; daughter, Helena Hockett; stepchildren, Dexter Ford, Ophelia Harper, Mary Dixon; step-grandchildren, Shapra Harper, Alex Dixon, John Bryson, Hasson Ford, Ramon Shumaker, Juan Guy, and Jimmie Tribble; siblings, Faye Murphy, Sarah Bryson, James March, JoAnn Kibble, Geneva Taylor, and Dorothy Imman. She is survived by her children, Wilma (Willie) Hampton, Tony (Sherry) Hockett, and Carol Ford; stepchildren, Brenda Bryson, Yolonda (Mike) Vance, and Jimmie D. Ford; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Henry Dixon; brother, Thomas Whitaker; brother-in-law, Harvey Imman, and McKinnley Taylor; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A Homegoing Celebration was held Friday, May 9, 2025, at Jennings Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment followed in Pleasant View Cemetery in Fayetteville.
