Donald “Donnie” Edward Simmons Obituary
Donald “Donnie” Edward Simmons
December 7, 1955 – November 3, 2025
Donald “Donnie” Edward Simmons, 69, of Fayetteville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, in his family’s home in Texas.
Born on Dec. 7, 1955, in Fayetteville, Tennessee, Donnie was the son of Horace Lee Simmons and Corinne Odell Bates. He was married for 16 years to his former wife, Betty Jo Sullins, and together they raised their pride and joy, daughter Brittany Simmons Barragy, son-in-law Christopher David Barragy, and grandson Camden Tyler Barragy.
Donnie loved his home state and had endless pride for the Tennessee Volunteers. He spent his final Saturday doing exactly what he loved — watching the Vols play with his favorite people. He adored Lincoln County and the lifelong friends who became family. No matter how hard his loved ones tried to move him closer, Donnie was happiest right where he was, surrounded by the friends and place he loved most.
A devoted Christian, Donnie was a proud member of First Baptist Church, where he built ramps for neighbors across Tennessee and found fellowship among a group of faithful friends. He worked more than 40 years with Amana (Goodman), known as a loyal teammate and leader who always stood up for others.
Outside of work, he loved motorcycles, golfing, throwing darts, and time on Tims Ford Lake. To know Donnie was to know generosity, laughter, and an unforgettable story or two.
Please join us as we celebrate the life of Donnie Simmons on what would have been his 70th birthday.
The celebration will be held from 2 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025, at the The Elk’s Lodge #1792, 1750 Wilson Pkwy, Fayetteville, TN 37334.
