Tommy Edward Cross Obituary
Tommy Edward Cross, 77, of Toney, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025. He was born in Ardmore, Alabama, on May 17, 1948, to the late John Elijah and Katherine Lunsford Cross. Mr. Cross was veteran of the United States Army and he retired as a project engineer for the State of Alabama Highway Department. He was a member of Friendship Stateline Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Cross, and one grandchild, Noah Junkins.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Madewell Cross; two sons, Sammy (Leslie) Cross and Jason (Andrea) Cross; seven grandchildren, Lindsey (Adam) Kirkland, Casey (Chris) Counts, Eli Cross, Michael Achord, Chris (Lisa) Achord, Matt (Cassie) Johnson, and Leigh Ann (Tim) Stewart; nine great-grandchildren, Aiden Kirkland, Beckham Kirkland, Kopelyn Counts, Kade Counts, Isaac Junkins, Hudson Achord, Jacob Stephens, Theo Achord, and Hadley Johnson; three sisters, Merle Nickelson, Judy Beverly, and Kathy Craddock; three brothers, Jimmy (Evelyn) Cross, Larry (Janet) Cross, and Dale (Sheila) Cross; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, at the Friendship Stateline Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Glyn Pool and the Rev. Donnie Hillis officiating. Burial followed in Gatlin Cemetery.
