Billy Ray Sanders Obituary
Billy Ray Sanders, 79, a lifelong resident of Lynchburg, Tennessee, was born on July 11, 1946, and passed away on Jan. 23, 2026.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Sanders and Virginia Wagoner Sanders, and by his sister, Sue Moore and his nephew, Barry Moore.
He is survived by his loving wife, Christie; his daughters, Sharon Rae Sanders and Patricia (Wally) Throneberry; his brother, Harlan Sanders; and his beloved grandson, Wyatt Throneberry and step-granddaughter Jilliann Throneberry.
A longtime and faithful member of New Life Baptist Church, Billy lived his life rooted in faith, family, and hard work. He was a loving husband and father and a faithful friend who found joy in the simple things. He loved gardening and farming, spending countless hours working the land he cared for so deeply.
Billy was a sports fan, proudly supporting the Moore County Raiders, Tennessee Vols, and the Atlanta Braves. However, nothing brought him greater happiness than time spent with his family, especially his grandson Wyatt, who brought him immense joy and pride.
Billy will be remembered for his gentle spirit and unwavering love for his family. His steady presence and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Visitation was scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 1, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Funeral services were held Sunday Feb. 1, 2026 at Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Lynchburg, Tennessee. A burial immediately followed at Booneville Cemetery.
Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Lynchburg was in charge of arrangements.
