Harvey Ray Coble Obituary
Harvey Ray Coble, 82, of Meridianville, Alabama, passed away on Feb. 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and the devoted presence of his wife of 60 years, Judy.
Ray was born in Pulaski, Tennessee, and carried his small town roots, strong work ethic, and gift for conversation everywhere he went. He built a long and respected career in communications, beginning with South Central Bell in Huntsville, transitioning to AT&T, where he spent many dedicated years before retiring. Ray later worked for Boeing before finally retiring at the age of 77.
Ray will be remembered for the unmistakable twinkle in his eye and a grin that often signaled he was about to deliver a remark that was equal parts wisdom and mischief. His dry humor and quick wit kept friends and family guessing, and if you weren’t sure whether he was serious or teasing, that was exactly how he liked it.
His greatest joy was his family. Ray rarely missed a grandchild’s game, school event, or milestone, showing up with quiet support and usually a well-timed joke. He loved life’s simple pleasures: bream and crappie fishing, proudly wearing his lucky blue shirt (a treasured family tradition), and cheering enthusiastically for Tennessee sports. Home was his favorite place, where he happily accepted being lovingly spoiled by Judy.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Woodrow Coble and Mary Helen Coble and his brothers, Mylen Coble and Alton Coble.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Holt Coble; his daughters, Laynette (Jeff) Bell and Vicki (Dewayne) Tucker; his grandchildren, Erin (Jason) Price, Deanna (Tyler) Yates, Samantha (Bradley) Hulin, Payton Bell, and Ryan (“the honest one”) Tucker; his great-grandchildren, Reagan and Reed Price; his sisters, Peggy Clifton and Nancy Owens; and many extended family members.
Honoring their wishes, the family will not be holding a memorial service at this time.
Memorial contributions may be made to charities listed by Carr & Erwin.
