Fayetteville High School’s Tigers notched another region win Friday night, defeating the Raiders from Richland, 20-6, and spoiling the host’s homecoming night.
Fayetteville got on the board first with a big 82-yard strike from Sam Holdmeyer to Isaiah Thomison. A good 2-point conversion put the Tigers up 8-0.
In the second quarter, FHS put up more points after Graham Pace took the Tigers down to the 2-yard line on a 37-yard run and then punched it in on the next play for a score. The 2-point conversion failed, and the Tigers had a 14-0 lead.
The Raiders got on the board in the second quarter on a 13-yard run, cutting the Tigers’ lead to 14-6 after the extra point attempt failed.
Fayetteville struck again in the second quarter as Pace took it in from 29 yards out. The 2-point conversion failed, and the Tigers held a 20-6 lead going into halftime.
Neither team scored in the second half, and the Tigers left Lynnville with another region win and an overall 5-1 record, their sole loss coming in the first game of the season playing up against Marion County.
The Tigers are on the road again this Friday night, facing a tough 4-1 Cornersville team. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
