Fayetteville High School’s Tigers advance in the state high school playoffs this week after getting a big shutout win at home over Hollow Rock-Bruceton Friday night.

The 37-0 win puts the Tigers in the second round of the playoffs, hosting Huntland’s Hornets this Friday night at 7 p.m. on Tiger Hill. Huntland advanced after defeating Collinwood 28-12. The Tigers and Hornets met early this season at Huntland where FHS took the 20-14 win.

In action Friday night against the Tigers from Hollow-Rock Bruceton, FHS came up big on defense, holding the visitors scoreless on the night, while the FHS offense racked up over 300 yards.

The first score of the night came on a 60-yard KJ Jackson burst to the endzone. The 2-point conversion failed, and it was a 6-0 ballgame.

Jackson then added another score, a 40-yard run, to increase the FHS lead to 12-0 after a failed 2-point conversion.

Early in the third quarter, Trey Allen took in a 12-yard pass from Sam Holdmeyer to extend the Tiger lead to 20-0 with Jackson’s 2-point conversion run.

Aljarea Johnson put up more points on the board in the third quarter, scoring on a 1-yard run, which was followed by a Kentius Henderson pass from Holdmeyer for the 2-point conversion. The score was 28-0 heading into the fourth quarter.

In the final frame, Xavier Gray hauled in a 24-yard pass from Dalton Chriss to extend the FHS lead to 34-0 after a failed 2-point conversion. Isaiah Thomison kicked a 30-yard field goal for the Tigers’ final score of the night, capping off the 37-0 victory.
