The Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association’s (TMSAA) basketball tournament is underway and being played at Lincoln County High School and Lincoln Central.
The tournament got underway on Thursday of last week. In first round girls’ action, results are as follows: Liberty, 51, Blanche, 6; Unity, 45, Highland Rim, 36; Flintville, 34, Fayetteville, 27; first round boys’: Blanche, 34, Flintville, 21; Liberty, 28, Highland Rim, 20; South Lincoln, 36, Unity, 27.
In Saturday’s second round action: girls’ results, Huntland, 54, Liberty, 4; Unity, 30, Moore County, 18; South Lincoln, 44, Flintville, 5; boys, Moore County, 49, Blanche, 18; Huntland, 44, Liberty, 39; Fayetteville, 48, South Lincoln, 21.
Advancing to the semifinals that was to be played on Monday of this week are, in girls’ action, South Lincoln vs. Eagleville and Huntland vs. Unity; in boys’ semifinals, Fayetteville vs. Smith County.
Winners will advance to the Middle Tennessee East Area championship and consolation games scheduled for this Thursday starting at 6 p.m., and will be played at both locations.
The road to the state will continue with games played at Lincoln Central and LCHS on Jan. 25 and Jan. 27. The sectional finals will be play Jan. 30 at LCHS.
Coming out of the regular season, the seeding for the tournament was as follows: girls, Huntland, 15-1; South Lincoln, 13-2; Moore County, 11-4; Highland Rim, 11-5; Unity, 8-8; Flintville, 5-10; Fayetteville, 4-11; Liberty, 3-13; and Blanche, 0-16.
Boys, Moore County, 15-1; Fayetteville, 13-3; Huntland, 13-3; Liberty, 10-6; Highland Rim, 8-8; Unity, 5-11; South Lincoln, 4-11; Flintville, 1-14; Blanche, 1-15.
