High school volleyball
Lincoln County High School’s Lady Falcon volleyball team finished as runner-up in the District 8-AAA tournament held at Coffee County.
The ladies advanced in the semifinals with a 3-0 win over Columbia with scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 27-25.
After a short break, the Lady Falcons matched up with Coffee County in the championship game and went down 0-3 with scores of 15-25, 19-25 and 21-25.
The second place finish earned the ladies a spot in the Region 4-AAA Tournament where they take on Siegel on the road Tuesday at 4 p.m. Coffee County meets Blackman at 5:30 p.m. The region championship game will follow at 7 p.m.
Fayetteville High School’s Lady Tiger volleyball team’s season came to an end in the first round of district tournament action, going down to Community 0-3 with scores of 13-25, 10-25 and 8-25. The ladies split with the Lady Viqueens during the regular season.
Community went on to win the championship, defeating Eagleville, the host school of the tournament, 1-3.
High school soccer
Lincoln County High School’s Lady Falcons wrapped up their regular season at home Monday night, going down to Giles County, 1-4. Emma Womble scored the goal for the ladies at 13 minutes, assisted by Tessa Lewis.
LCHS took three shots on goal. Keeper Adriana Castillo had five saves.
The ladies travel to Franklin County on Tuesday of this week for the first round of District 8-AAA tournament action. Game time is at 6:30 p.m.
High school football
Lincoln County High School’s JV Falcons won at home over Shelbyville, 40-22. All three area high schools’ varsity football teams were “open” last week. This week, the Falcons travel to Battle Ground Academy for a Thursday night game with kickoff at 7 p.m. The Tigers travel to Gordonsville Friday starting at 7 p.m. The Knights host South Haven Friday, celebrating senior night with kickoff at 7 p.m.
