The Lincoln County Special Olympics golf team has been in existence for more than 20 years, made up of different coaches and players through the period.

Coach Bill Daniels has been involved with the program since the beginning.

“We go to five tournament each year,” Daniels said. “Two of those are overnight trips. We practice at the Pebble Creek Golf Course. Mr. Dan Holt has been very gracious about the use of the facility.

“Landers-McLarty Toyota has loaned us a van for transportation to events,” he added. “We are so very thankful for them and all our sponsors; without their support, this team would not have been a reality for so many years. We’re dependent on donations to keep us funded.

“Everyone involved is on a volunteer basis, giving up their time for practice and tournaments; no one receives any compensation,” Daniels continued. “Each golfer has a coach play with them when they’re on the course, and we’ve got a great group of coaches. They are Lynn Brown, Heath Jefferies, Jack Buck, Rod Chatman and Grayson Ray. Our athletes are Ronnie Vaughn, Dell Stinnett, Ricky Bigham, Max Ray and Patrick Thompson.”
