Fayetteville High School’s Lady Tigers finished in the fourth spot of the District 8-A Tournament held at Huntland High School.

The ladies went down in the consolation game, 43-28, to Eagleville.

The ladies were up, 9-8, at the end of one and trailed, 18-16, at the intermission, but a slow third quarter for the Lady Tigers put the Lady Eagles in the driver’s seat, taking the second half, 25-18.

The Lady Tigers advanced in the tournament, defeating Cascade, 45-38, in the first round. Trailing 30-28 at the end of three, Za’naria Robinson had a big fourth quarter, pouring in 11 points. The ladies took the period, 17-8.

Their first tournament loss came from the top-seed Huntland. The ladies dropped the second round decision to the Lady Hornets, 70-49. FHS trailed 31-25 at the break, but Huntland controlled the final 16 minutes.

Carly Andrews received District 8-A, All-Season team honors. Za’naria Robinson was named to the All-Season team and All-Tournament team.

It was a year of firsts for the Lady Tigers. Led by first-year coaches Holly Hoagland and Cartia Woodard, their 14-win season is the program’s best. Wins over Cascade and Moore County marked other firsts for the program.

The district tournament win was also a first for the ladies, advancing to the region tournament for the first time in school history.
