For the fourth consecutive year, the Lady Falcon soccer team has clinched the top seed in District 8-AAA headed into the tournament. The ladies are 12-3-2 overall and 5-1-2 in district action.
The order of finished at the end of the regular season is Lincoln County, Shelbyville, Coffee County, Columbia and Franklin County.
In their first tournament action, the ladies will host the winner of Columbia and Franklin County on Oct. 9.
Last week, LCHS picked up their only district loss of the season, falling on the road to Shelbyville, 1-2, Thursday night on a rain-soaked field.
The ladies trailed the Eaglettes 0-1 at the intermission. Julia Marsh scored the only goal for the Lady Falcons on a penalty kick at the 42-minute mark.
Shelbyville picked up their second goal of the night at the 58-minute mark.
The ladies had 9 shots on goal to 12 for Shelbyville.
Keeper Lydia Johnsey finished with 10 saves in goal.
On Tuesday of last week at home, the ladies won over Franklin County, 4-1.
Lincoln County’s first goal came from Alex Davis 11 minutes into the game with an assist from Tessa Lewis.
In the second half, Alexys Couch tacked on two goals, coming at the 41-minute mark, assisted by Julia Marsh, and at the 59-minute mark, assisted by Jordan Cox.
The Lady Rebels’ goal came 50 minutes into the match.
Julia Marsh got the final goal of the night on a penalty kick at the 65-minute mark.
Lincoln County took 19 shots on goal to 9 for Franklin County.
Lydia Johnsey finished with 8 saves in goal.
