The Riverside Christian Academy Knights dropped their first MTAC South Division game in a 52-20 loss to Lancaster Christian Academy on Friday night.

“The game was a two-score game for most of the night until it got away from us in the fourth quarter due to lack of depth and minor injuries,” said RCA’s Head Football Coach Travis Creasy. “I was proud of the way our guys continued to fight through adversity.”

Michael Black led the team offensively with three catches for 103 yards and two touchdowns. Crutcher Ezell led the Knights in rushing yardage with six carries for 58 yards, and John Trahin contributed eight carries for 23 yards and one touchdown.

On defense, Crutcher Ezell contributed 13 total tackles, and John Trahin had 12. Marcus Whitworth also had an interception with a 27-yard return.

“Our defense kept us in the ball game most of the night with at least two big stops deep in our territory. Crutcher Ezell had a big tackle on fourth down to end a drive, and Marcus Whitworth had a big interception that bailed us out. It was really awesome to see two sophomores play a big role for our team,” said Coach Creasy.

On special teams, the Knights’ kicker Riley Hall had a big game.

“Riley has worked really hard on his kicking game. He did a great job placing his kicks on Friday night. His hard work is showing,” said Coach Creasy.

The Knights will play Webb School on Friday night at home. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
