After competing well in their past two games, Lincoln County High School’s Falcons took a tough region loss at home to Shelbyville, 37-10.
The Eagles came to town one of the preseason favorites for the region title but had gotten off to a slow start. Friday night the Falcons faced the most athletic team they’d seen so far this season.
Lincoln County moved the ball into scoring position but came away with only a field goal until their final possession of the game.
After forcing the Eagles to punt their first possession, the Falcons moved to Shelbyville’s 16 yard line but failed to convert on a third and 10 situation. Antonio Zita split the uprights from 33 yards out, and LCHS was first on the board with 8:54 on the clock.
The first score for the Eagles came following a Falcon turnover at their own 36 yard line.
