Brigham advances

Riverside Christian Academy’s Carrie Brigham, a sixth grader, sealed her position in the last show of the regular season to compete in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association’s Western Regional Championships.

Riverside Christian Academy sixth grader Carrie Brigham recently sealed her position in the last show of the regular season to compete in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association’s Western Regional Championships.

The Regional Championship show was to be held over the weekend in Conyers, Ga., at the Georgia International Horse Park.

Brigham was to compete in her age division with other middle school competitors from across the southeast to determine who will secure a slot in the Western Semi-Finals competition.

The Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) is host to teams across the country with riders in grades four through 12 to compete in Western and Hunt Seat divisions. Riders draw horses that they have never ridden before, and with no warmup, must enter the arena and show the horse to demonstrate the rider’s horsemanship skills.
