Fayetteville High School’s Lady Tigers continue to roll, racking up two more wins last week.
In an edge-of-your-seat match-up with Richland’s Lady Raiders last Monday, the Lady Tigers came up big in the last seconds of the game to get the win.
“It was a great team win, really balanced scoring,” said Lady Tiger Coach Holly Hoagland.
The Lady Tigers took a 21-18 lead after the first quarter and were up by 3, 35-32, at halftime. At the end of the third, FHS was ahead, 49-42, but the Lady Raiders had a strong final frame, narrowing the gap and eventually tying the game with less than a minute to play.
Sophomore Gracie Hoagland hit a 3 with 37 seconds to go ahead and sealed the win with 2 free throws. This was her second game-winning 3-point shot in the last 3 games.
“Za’naria (Robinson) came up big on the boards with 16 rebounds,” Coach Hoagland said. “Elexis Humphrey came back from quarantine and had an amazing defensive night with 6 deflections and 4 steals to go with 7 points.”
On Friday night, the Lady Tigers hosted Cascade and claimed a 54-21 victory.
FHS jumped out to an early lead, 13-6, after the first quarter and led 26-11 at the intermission. The Lady Tigers never looked back, holding a 39-15 lead after 3 periods of play before taking the 54-21 win.
