Fayetteville High School's Lady Tiger basketball team wrapped up their 2019-20 season adding ink in the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association record books on a state level.
With that success, one of their own Za'naria Robinson, is on the radar of some of the top programs in the country.
The ladies set the all time team blocks record in a single game with 16 blocks in region tournament action against LEAD Academy. In that match-up Robinson set a single game record with 12 blocks.
Combined, they moved into the top spot of TSSAA records with 219 team blocks in a single season.
Robinson finished the year with 133 individual blocks putting her in the 9th spot in the overall record books for a single season.
“Prior to the 2019-20 season, Za'naria was not being recruited by any colleges,” said Lady Tiger Coach Holly Hoagland. “But after a breakout junior season, shes been recruited by fifty-plus D1 NCAA programs including the SEC, ACC, Big 12, PAC 12 and other top 25 teams.”
“The next step in her recruitment would be these teams watch her live during summer travel ball games,” she continued. “But unfortunately, the COVID 19 situation and NCAA's decision to extend the dead period to July 31 has delayed the recruiting process. The colleges that continue to recruit Za'naria will have the opportunity to see her live at the invitation-only 'Best of the Best' elite event in September in Murfreesboro. We look forward to things getting back to normal and prepare for the 2020-2021 season.”
