Ladies go down to Coffee and Moore Co.

Amelia Kate Richardson, a Senior at Lincoln County High School wrapped up her regular season career as a Lady Falcon last week in games with Coffee and Moore Co. Amelia Kate has been a four-year starter for the Lady Falcons.

 

The ladies took a tough road trip loss to Coffee Co. Monday night, 54-32, and went down on Senior Night at home to Moore Co. 40-38 in overtime.

In their first meeting with Coffee, the ladies battled down to the wire in a tight 43-36 matchup. In early December LCHS won on the road over Moore Co. 42-28.

But on Thursday’s Senior Night game against Moore the shots didn’t fall, especially in the second half and overtime period.

LCHS led the majority of the game except for the part that mattered most. With 1:49 remaining in the match-up the Lady Raiders knotted it at 34-34. With 5 seconds remaining in the game, Amelia Kate Richardson drove to the basket dropping what would be the game-winner but was called for a walk.

Moore Co. won the four minutes of free basketball 6-4. The four points scored for the ladies came from Maggie Paladino at the line.

Seniors honored between the girls and boys games were LeLe Stubblefield and Amelia Kate Richardson.

With the District 8-AAA completed the seeding going into the tournament is as follows: Coffee Co., 1; Tullahoma, 2; Lawrence Co., 3; Columbia, 4; Lincoln Co., 5; Shelbyville, 6; Franklin Co., 7.

For their first tournament action, the ladies travel to Columbia on Tuesday night with game time at 6 p.m.

With COVID-19 restrictions in place, there will not be a typical host school for the tournament. Only one game will be played each night hosted by the higher seed team. The games start at 6 pm.
