Class 5A, Region 6
Lincoln County Falcons
(1-5 overall, 1-1 region)
Franklin County Rebels
(4-2 overall, 1-1 region)
Last meeting: Franklin County won 31-7 in 2021
Series: Lincoln County leads series 30-13
Last week: Lincoln County lost to Lebanon 38-0, Franklin County beat Grundy County 61-6
Overview: It was a swing and a miss with Lebanon last week. The Falcons couldn’t hold their own on the line of scrimmage with the 6A Blue Devils. Now, the Falcons can focus on the remaining four games in the season. Three of which are region games. Franklin County is up first for Lincoln County. The Rebels have improved this season so far. Franklin County defeated an outmanned Grundy County last week, but Grundy County is 0-6 this season. Franklin County lost to Giles County by seven and defeated Coffee County by seven to start the season. The Falcons should be able to hold their own up front with the Rebels, and if Lincoln County can get some sort of passing threat down the field going, the Falcons may just be able to pull the upset.
Class 1A, Region 5
(6-0 overall, 3-0 region)
(2-4 overall, 2-1 region)
Last meeting: Fayetteville defeated Cornersville 18-9 in 2021
Series: Fayetteville leads 4-3
Last week: Fayetteville defeated Collinwood 59-7, Cornersville lost to Eagleville 28-14
Overview: Fayetteville did what they had to do against Collinwood last week. The Tigers were never threatened by Collinwood. Now, enter the Cornersville Bulldogs. One of the Tigers closest regular season games last year came against Cornersville. The Tigers don’t care for the Bulldogs very much and they remember the harsh environment they had to play in last year at Cornersville. Fayetteville will make the Bulldogs pay this week on “Tiger Hill.” Might want to cover your eyes.
