Last meeting: Fayetteville lost 14-8 in the 2021 playoffs
Series: McKenzie leads series 1-0
Last week: Fayetteville defeated Dresden 42-17; McKenzie defeated Moore County 56-21
Overview: The McKenzie Rebels are averaging winning their games this year 48-7. The Rebels defeated Dresden earlier this year 40-7. Eerily similar to the score Fayetteville took out Dresden by last week. Fayetteville has had a bad taste in their mouth since last season’s 14-8 loss to McKenzie. The Tigers had to watch McKenzie on tv in the State Championship game. Fayetteville felt like they let that game get away from them. They now have their chance at redemption; the ability to right a wrong. Football teams can be motivated by their coaches to play their best, but your true championship teams also play angry and are hungry. This 2022 Tigers team is all of those. They have been watching McKenzie all year and they knew the Rebels stood in their way of another state title. The time the Tigers have been waiting 365 days for has arrived. McKenzie is good, if not great, but so are these Tigers from Fayetteville. Take the hungry, angry Tigers in this one.
