Falcons win battle over Red Raiders; fall to Moore

The Falcons wrapped up their final district action of the regular season with a 67-57 win over Coffee Co. on the road Monday night. But on Thursday, LCHS dropped a 52-49 Senior Night decision to Moore Co.

In their first meeting earlier in the year the Red Raiders finished on top 64-49. In early December the Falcons defeat Moore Co. 76-48

At Coffee Co., LCHS led the entire game but the Red Raiders kept within striking distance in a physical battle down to the wire.

Owen Sandlin had the hot hand for the Falcons pouring in 30 points hitting 5 shots from the arch. In the fourth quarter, LCHS went 18 of 24 from the line - Sandlin hit 14 of 18 in the period.

Thursday the Falcons went down on Senior Night to the Moore Co. After leading 14-11 at the end of one the Raiders came back strong in the second on top 24-18 at the break.

Headed to the final frame LCHS was back on top 36-34 but the margin would be short-lived. By the 2:58 mark, the Raiders were up 48-40.

LCHS won the final minutes 9-4 and had a shot at a 3-pointer at the buzz for the tie that missed its mark. Moore Co. took the final frame 18-13.

Seniors honored between the girls and boys games were Jailen Brown and Caden Jacks.

With District 8-AAA completed the seeding going into the tournament is as follows: Columbia, 1; Coffee Co., 2; Lincoln Co., 3; Tullahoma, 4; Lawrence Co., 5; Franklin Co., 6; Shelbyville, 7.

Shelbyville defeated Franklin Co. in action Saturday. The Falcons will host the Eagles on Monday at 6 pm.

With COVID-19 restrictions in place, there will not be a typical host school for the tournament. Only one game will be played each night hosted by the higher seed team. The games start at 6 pm.
