Falcons split on hardwood

 

Lincoln County High School’s Falcons split in district action last week. Tuesday LCHS won at home over Franklin Co. 82-72 in overtime. Tuesday, they dropped a 64-49 decision at home to Coffee Co.

Currently, in District 8-AAA standings Tullahoma is 5-0; Coffee Co., 3-2; Columbia, 3-2; Lawrence Co., 2-3; Lincoln Co., 2-3; Shelbyville, 1-3; and Franklin Co. is 1-4.

Against the Rebels, with the score knotted at 66-66 at the end of regulation the Falcons salted the game away in the four minutes of free basketball pouring in 16 points. Owen Sandlin went 5 of 6 from the line down the stretch sealing the win.

In the match-up with Coffee Co. it was knotted at 30-30 with two minutes remaining in the third quarter; but the Red Raiders went on an 11 point run. The game would be decided in the final frame from the line. Coffee Co. made only three shots from the floor in the final eight minutes but went 19 of 22 from the line in the period to salt away the win.

This week the Falcons host Shelbyville on Friday. The girls game gets underway at 6 pm with the boys to follow.
