Falcons go down to the Wildcats

Lincoln County High School’s Ben Davis (41) rushed for 106 yards and had two catches for another 26 in the Falcons Homecoming match-up with Tullahoma.

Lincoln County High School’s Falcons took a 56-13 homecoming loss to Tullahoma Friday night.

The Wildcat brought a 6-0 record to town averaging 41 points a game while giving up an average of 10. The Falcons were 3-2 averaging 29 points an outing while giving up an average of 25,

LCHS was down 28-0 with 9:18 in the second period. The Falcons have put together 20 point comebacks twice during the season. But in the final minutes of the quarter the turnover bug bit Lincoln County hard giving up 21 points. The Falcons were down 49-0 at the break.

Scores for the Falcons came on a 78 yard run by Ben Davis and a 78-yard pass from Parker Webb to Eric Greenwood.

“Tullahoma has an outstanding football team,” said Coach Kevin Rose following the game. “They’re by far the best football team we’ve faced all year. They should make a strong run in their classification.”

“I thought we played better in the second half, I know they subbed people but we played better,” he added. “We cleaned our act up some in the second half.”

“Ben Davis played phenomenal tonight,” Rose continued. “For a freshman to come in against a team like that, he ran north and south behind his pads, he made a mark tonight.”

“We’ve got three region games left and it’s up to us to make the playoffs,” added Rose. “That’s what we’ve worked for all year. We’ve got to take care of our business and get a couple of big wins.”

This week the Falcons return to region action hosting Shelbyville with kick-off at 7 pm.
