Lincoln County High School’s Falcon Soccer team has a new head coach in place going into the 2021 season. Zach Crownover leads the program, he is assisted by Robert Mills. Crownover joins LCHS while working as an assistant coach for the UT Martin Lady Redhawks soccer team.
This is the final season for the current District 8-AAA alignment. Along with Lincoln County, it is made up of Columbia, Shelbyville, Franklin Co., and Coffee Co. Next season the Falcons will be a member of District 11-AA long with Giles Co., Lawrence Co., Marshall Co. Murfreesboro Central Magnet, Page, Spring Hill, and Tullahoma.
This year Columbia is the preseason favorite; from that point, it’s anyone’s guess how the district will follow. Each team plays each other twice - it’s expected to see a lot of splits during the season.
The Falcons have eight returning seniors all expected to be key contributors, they are Angel Lopez, Sammy Gantes, Hunter Monks, Santana Carrillo, John Sharp, Alex Castaneda, Adryan Bello, and Damian Castaneda. Juniors Bailey Gleghorn and William Bain, sophomore T.D. Tucker and freshman Said Reyes are expected to work into the mix as well.
The Falcons have one out of district match-up under their belt this season finishing tied with Giles Co. at 3-3. In that game, Santana Carrillo accounted for all three of Lincoln County’s goals with a hat trick. Teams were not allowed any preseason games or play-days due to TSSAA COVID-19 guidelines.
This week the Falcons have their district opener on the road Monday at Coffee Co. Thursday Shelbyville comes to town. JV action starts at 5 pm with the Varsity at 7:00.
