Warden Thomison, Jr., 79, of Fayetteville, passed away on Sunday (Nov. 3, 2019) at Lincoln Medical Center. He was born on Oct. 9, 1940 in Lincoln County to the late Warden Thomison, Sr., and Ida Mae Drake Thomison Knott. Warden graduated from West End High School in 1958 and continued his education at A&M University and Tennessee State University. Warden worked for the Fayetteville Police Department and retired from International Comfort Products. After his retirement, Warden loved assisting others by driving the South Central Human Resource van. Warden accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at an early age and joined St. Paul A.M.E Church. Warden was very active and served faithfully on the Steward and Trustee boards, Senior choir, Sunday School, Bible Study and transportation ministry. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Joe Knott; first wife of 39 years, Maggie Lean Moody Thomison, and they were blessed with five children from this union; son-in-law, Leon Draper; sister-in-law, Linda Stone; brothers-in-law, Arnette Moody and James David McGear, Sr. Warden was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He gave his all to his family. He had a love for sports with football being his favorite. He was known by many of his friends as "Bud". Warden was united in matrimony to Joann McGear Kertchaval on Dec. 6, 2003. They had a love for spending time together and enjoying the children and grandchildren. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted wife, Joann Thomison; sons, Lamond Jones of Petersburg, Juan (Penny) Thomison of Stafford, Va., Tony (Kim) Thomison of Fayetteville; daughters, Glynis Thomison-Draper of Madison, Ala., Paulette Thomison of Huntsville, Ala.; step-children, Tony (Wanda) Kertchaval of Murfreesboro, Michelle (Bobby) Brooks of Nashville; brothers, Robert (Mary Ann) Thomison of Livonia, Mich., William (Clarita) Thomison of Ladson, S.C., Charles (Yolanda) Thomison of Rex, Ga.; special cousin, Martha Thompson of Talladega, Ala.; sisters-in-law, Jewell Scott, Anita (Paul) Bridgeforth, Cherry Fae Crum and Clara McGear; brothers-in-law, Larry Moody and Jerry (Phyllis) Moody; grandchildren, Anton Thomison, Eric Thomison, Brandon Thomison, Cameron Thomison, Lauren Thomison, Amber Thomison, Brittney Thomison, Juan Thomison, Jr., Isabella Thomison; step-grandchildren, Victoria, Josh, Jessica, Bobby Jr., De'Andre, Amiya, Caleb, Kaelyn; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Amiyah, Ashariah, Camiyah, Milliana, Jazmine, Savina, Darren Jr.; and step-great-grandchildren, Khaleigha and Khylei. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul A.M.E. Church. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home and Friday from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at St. Paul A.M.E. Church.
