Wallace Ray Cobb, 83, of Fayetteville, died Sunday (Feb. 3, 2019). Mr. Cobb was born on Sept. 13, 1935 in Springfield to the late Joseph Rayburn and Odessa Moore Cobb. Mr. Cobb was a retired mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and a member of Fayetteville First Baptist Church. He was a former member of the Jaycees. He was also a 14-year veteran of the Tennessee National Guard. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Gibson Cobb; daughter, Kathy (Jack) Parsons of Fayetteville; two sons, Mark (Susie) Cobb of Fayetteville and Charlie (Susan) Cobb of Murfreesboro; one sister, Jean Doss of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Ashley (Gary) Gearhart, Robert Parsons, Rachel (Justin) Koonce, Amy Cobb, J.T. Cobb, Ben Cobb and Audrey Cobb; and great-grandson, Hunter Jackson Gearhart. Mr. Cobb was proceeded in death by two sisters, Weltha Adams and Edna Ellis; four brothers, Rayburn Cobb, Joseph Cobb, Ralph Cobb, and Charles Cobb; and one granddaughter, Julie Parsons. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Feb. 8, at 1 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Dr. Jon Hathcock officiating. Burial will follow in Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be Friday, Feb. 8, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, Tennessee 38105-9959. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
