Alice Patricia Moyers (Pat), our dear mother, died Friday (April 19, 2019) surrounded by her family at the age of 77 years old. Pat was born in Williamsburg, Va., on Nov. 11, 1941. She was the first child of Nathaniel and Inez Barnes. After several moves in Pat’s early life, the family settled in Fayetteville in 1956 where she met her husband of 39 years, David C. Moyers, Jr. After graduating from Central High School, they were married on Dec. 21, 1960. David and Pat moved to several locations during David’s successful military career and raised three children together. They returned to Fayetteville in 1986 where Pat has lived ever since. Pat was a humble, kind and gentle woman who has said she always wanted to be a wife and mother. After her husband died in 1999, she devoted herself to her grandchildren, great-grandchild and the Atlanta Braves (!). Pat was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Fayetteville for 25 years.  Pat was predeceased by her husband, CMSGT David C. Moyers, Jr. (USAF), and parents, Nathaniel and Inez Barnes. She is survived by her children, Amber Eldridge (Roger) of Murfreesboro, Tony Moyers (John) of Atlanta, Ga., and Keith Moyers (Phelica) of Spring Hill; grandchildren, Courtney Jones (Landon), Blake Eldridge, Landen Moyers and Carly Moyers; great-grandchild, Harper Jones; and siblings, Sandra Wolaver, Bill Barnes and Nancy Woods, all of Fayetteville. Burial will follow in Medium Cemetery next to her husband. Visitation with the family will held from 12 p.m. until time of service at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, 200 Elk Avenue North, Fayetteville, TN 37334. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.
