Nervelene Duncan Porter, 81, of Fayetteville, passed away on Saturday (Jan. 11, 2020), surrounded by her family. She was born in Calhoun County, Ark., on Sept. 12, 1938 to the late Birdie & Madie Evans McCann. She was a retired LPN and a member of Christian Fellowship Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Richard Rex Duncan; sisters, Trudy Evans, Genural Stowe and Lynette Evans; and brothers, Vecial McCann, Lecial McCann, Doyce McCann and Winnon McCann. Ms. Porter is survived by her daughters, Valerie Miller, Vanessia (Jeff) Simmons and Valesha Smith; sisters, Erna Faye Grant and Juanice Steger; grandchildren, Lindsey (J.J.) Smith, Lacey Beth (Dean) Austin, Jacob Miller, Natalie (Bennett) Rambo, Benjamin (Katherine) Gibson and Gavin Smith; step-grandchildren, Shayna (Rob) Simms, Alyssa (Bryan) Johnson and Kelsey Simmons; great grandchildren, Gabriel Cisneros, Elijah Cisneros, Luke Austin, Ezra Austin, Sadie Beth Austin, Livey Grace Rambo, Brooks Rambo, Hudson Gibson and Reese Gibson; and step-great-grandchildren, Alyx Smith, Anniston Smith, Cole Simms, Ayden Simms, Cullen Simms, Kyler Johnson and Keegan Johnson. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Hill and James Strope officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 8 p.m. Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
