John Rufus Bain, 87, of Fayetteville, passed away on Friday (Sept. 13, 2019). He was born on April 23, 1932 in Lincoln County to the late John Clinton Bain and Myra Tallent Bain. He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association. He was a member of the Lincoln A.R.P. Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Cummings Bain; son, Rick Bain; and sister, June Crumbly. He is survived by his son, Mike (Marsha) Bain of Madison, Ala.; sister, Marie (James) Jones of Fayetteville; brothers, Clarence (Geraldine) Bain, Stanley Bain and Micky Bain, all of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Brooke (Timmy) Snyder, Briana Bain, Kaylea Bain, Madison Womack and Zachary Holt; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, Sept. 16, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with the Rev. Terrell Bain and Pastor Tommy Graham officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
