Jessie ‘Jess’ James Taylor, 71, of Fayetteville, passed away on Sunday (September 13, 2020) at his residence. He was born in Lincoln County, TN on November 4, 1948 to the late Gus and Jewel Taylor. He worked for many years at TDOT and the City of Fayetteville and he also worked in construction. Jessie enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching cattle auctions and watching Gunsmoke with his wife. He was a former adult leader in the 4-H club, enjoyed attending the harness races at the fair and was an avid Tennessee Vols fan. Jessie was a member of the Holiness Church of God and he loved spending time with his family and church family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sons, Jeremy Taylor and Jeffrey Taylor; sisters, Mary Sumners, Roxie Steele and Nellie Taylor; brother, Roger Taylor; son-in-law, Bryan Pearson; nephew, Steven Sumners; father-in-law, W.R. Metcalf; and sisters-in-law, Frances Taylor and Beverly Metcalf.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Betty Taylor; daughters, Jessica Pearson and Shantel (Johnathon) Hunter; grandsons, Dakota Pearson and David Pearson; sister, Judy Alexander; brothers: Kenny Taylor (Doris) and Calvin Taylor; mother-in-law, Mary Ellen Metcalf; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and church family.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Sis. Patricia Moore and Bro. Wayne Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home.
