Janna Marie Gardner Walker, 47 of Huntland, Tennessee, entered Heaven’s gates on Wednesday, (January 6, 2021) after a brave fight with Lou Gehrig’s (ALS) Disease. Janna was born in Winchester on March 8, 1973 to Ray and Brenda Gardner. Janna was a 1991 graduate of Franklin County High School. Janna had a contagious smile that reached everyone. She had a heart for serving and caring for others that led her to acquire a degree in social work from Union University in 1997. On October 16, 2010, Janna married Kirby Walker, and they have raised two sons. Janna was a social worker for several years before joining the Huntland School family as a Pre-K assistant in 2012. Janna loved all the students of Huntland School. She was more than an average fan of the Huntland Hornets. She had a way of connecting with students and encouraged them to achieve their goals. Janna was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church where she was involved in the children’s ministry and choir for many years. Janna was preceded in death by her grandparents, Hershel and Annie Bell Gardner, Tom and Frances Hyatt; and father-in-law, Bobby Walker. She is survived by husband, Kirby Walker of Huntland; sons, Dalton Davidson and Bryant Walker of Huntland; parents, Ray and Brenda Gardner of Vanntown; brother, Jeff (Melany) Gardner of Vanntown; sister, Jackie (Mike) Jernigan of Huntland; mother-in-law, Judy Walker of Meridianville, Alabama; sister-in-law, Saundra (Chuck) Hunter of Meridianville, Alabama; brother-in-law, Keith Walker of Meridianville, Alabama; nieces, Kaylee (Conner) Hensley, and Sara Walker; nephews, Chase Gardner, Kevin (Whitney) Jernigan, and Kyle Jernigan. Visitation will be 4-7 pm Saturday, January 9, 2021 and 1-2 pm Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Oaklawn Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday at Oaklawn Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Mayes officiating. Interment will follow at Gardner-Vann Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Janna requested donations be made to the ALS Association, Alzheimer’s Association, or the Gideons International Association.
