Hilda Frances Troy, 91, of Fayetteville, passed away on Tuesday (Jan. 8, 2019) at her residence. Mrs. Troy was born on Jan. 7, 1928 in Oxford, Miss., to the late Cordis and Katie Howe Sanders. She worked as a saleswoman for Sabghi Jewelers, was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and was the oldest founding member of the first Catholic Church in Lincoln County. Survivors include her children, John (Julie) P. Troy, VI, of Boonshill, Joel (Dee) Troy of Fayetteville and Katie (Bob) Tucker of Huntsville, Ala.; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Hazel M. Dubberly. Funeral mass will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Stephen Klasek officiating. Burial will follow next to her husband, John P. Troy, V, in Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10, at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fayetteville Animal Shelter, 1718 Pulaski Hwy., Fayetteville, TN 37334. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.
