Francis Marie Shepard Obituary

Francis Marie Shepard, 90, of Vann Town, died suddenly on Sunday (September 13, 2020) at Crestwood Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama. She was born on May 19, 1930 in Vann Town to Carl and Mamie Ogle, the eldest of eleven children. She was a faithful, lifetime member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was a teacher for two years at Vann Town School in the 1950’s. Afterwards, she was a substitute teacher for over 30 years all over Lincoln County. She enjoyed tending her flower beds, reading, sewing, and traveling, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She was known as Mamaw to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mamie Ogle; husband, Howard Shepard; brothers, Martis Ray Ogle and Dannie Ogle; and sister-in-law: Helena Ogle.Mrs. Shepard is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Todd) Wall of Elora; sons, Steve (Kathy) Shepard of Elora, Ronald ‘Doc’ Shepard (Rita Owens) of Elora and Randall (Leslie) Shepard of New Market; grandchildren, Brad (Jennifer) Shepard, Ben Shepard, Shannon (Daniel) Pitts, Brian (Mabern) Wall, Darrin (Hannah) Wall, Scarlet (Chris) Brown, Pete Shepard (Emma Harchanko) and Joe Shepard; great grandchildren, Jackson Shepard, Alex Pitts, Claire Pitts, Camdyn Pitts, Mabrie Wall, Meredith Wall, Madelyn Wall and Azalea Brown; sisters: Ann Bonin and Carol (Mike) Cantrell; brothers, Billy Ogle, Jerrell Ogle, Donny (Kathy) Ogle, Harold (Sarah) Ogle, David (Sherry) Ogle and Fred (Dale) Ogle; and sisters-in-law, Donna Simms and Joan (Glen) Huskey.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Milton Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Junior’s House Child Advocacy Center.
