Elgie Martin Riddle Obituary

Elgie Martin Riddle, 88, passed away on Wednesday, (February 24, 2021) at Huntsville Hospital. Mr. Riddle was born on March 28, 1932 in Lincoln County, TN to Lemuel Martin and Annie Mai Bradford Riddle. He was a Christian and a member of Champ Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a lifelong farmer and much-loved husband and father. For several years he was the field consultant for Lincoln Farmer’s Co-op. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving with the Honor Guard in Washington, D.C., and Arlington National Cemetery. He was married to Charlotte Jennings on May 8, 1956. Mr. Riddle is survived by his wife of 64 years: Charlotte Riddle of Mulberry; daughter and son-in-law: Susan and Bob Davenport of McMinnville; sister, Lola May Sorrells; sister-in-law, Betty June Riddle; brothers-in-law, Buford Jennings (Frances Hart) and Danny (Jane) Jennings; nieces, Shirley (Larry) Neece, Carolyn (Danny) Boggs, Donna (Jimmy) Camp, Lynn Riddle, Janice Womble, Belinda Riddle, Dot Sorrells, Melissa (Wesley) Nimon, Laura (Travis) McCall and Janie (Ben) Becker; nephews, Walt (Terri) Jennings, Todd Jennings (Kate Killebrew) and John (May) Jennings; great nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Carrah Jared; brother, William Riddle; father and mother-in-law, Walter and Flossie Jennings; sister-in-law, Nancy Jennings; brothers-in-law, John Jared and J.C. Sorrells; and nephews, Ronnie Riddle and Phil Sorrells. Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in Champ Cemetery with Rev. Elmer Alverson officiating.
