Dr. Paul McLin Wakefield, 90, of Fayetteville, passed away on Sunday (Dec. 2, 2018) at Lynchburg Nursing Center. Dr. Wakefield was born on Aug. 8, 1928 in Giles County to the late Gideon Cephus and Sadie Ileen McLin Wakefield.  Paul was a graduate of Martin Methodist College and Middle Tennessee State University and earned his doctor's degree in dentistry from the University of Tennessee Memphis.  He was a member of the American Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Association, men's Bible class at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, charter member of the Joseph Greer Chapter of the TN-S.A.R., TN Society War of 1812, past president of the Fayetteville Rotary Club, a Paul Harris fellow and past president of the Fayetteville-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce.  Dr. Wakefield owned and operated Dr. Paul M. Wakefield, D.D.S., dental practice in Fayetteville until retirement in 1999. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Nancy Ruth Clemmer Wakefield; sons, Colin Wakefield and wife, Nan, of Fayetteville and John Kevin Wakefield and partner, Alice Reid, of White House; daughter, Cynthia Hinson and husband, Andrew, of Athens, Ala.; grandchildren, Mollie Wakefield and fiancé Stevenson Giles, Katie Wakefield, Bonnie Wakefield, Trevor Hinson and Drew Hinson; brothers, Glen Wakefield and wife, Carolyn, of Guntersville, Ala., Carl Wakefield and Earl “Corky” Wakefield, both of Pulaski; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Whitney Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday at Higgins Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Martin Methodist College, 433 West Madison St., Pulaski, Tennessee, 38478 or the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, 200 Elk Avenue N., Fayetteville, TN 37334.  Higgins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
