CW5 (Ret.) Dan L. Sullivan, 74, of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday (Jan. 28, 2019) after a battle with cancer. Dan was born on May 20, 1944 in Cordele, Ga., to the late William Lee Sullivan and Ethel Ward Rowland. He served in the United States Army for 30 years. He served during the Vietnam War, was a transport pilot for Special Operations and was an instructor for both helicopters and fixed wing aircrafts. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge and Coldwater Methodist Church. His family and his animals held a special place in his heart. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Donna Stickland Sullivan; daughter, Laurena Sullivan Miller and husband, Bruce, of Fayetteville; son, Jefferson McKelvey and wife, Cheryl, of Lewisburg; grandchild, Tessa Miller of Fayetteville; sister, Judene Haskins and husband, Clifton, of Perry, Ga.; and brother, Marion Sullivan and wife, Barbara, of Perry, Ga. Visitation with the family will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, at Higgins Funeral Home. A life celebration will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will follow on the family farm at Gunter Hollow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fayetteville-Lincoln County Humane Society at 1718 Pulaski Hwy., Fayetteville, TN 37334.
