Annie M. Stone

Annie M. Stone, 92, passed away Monday (July 9, 2018).  She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Stone, and daughter, Louise Stone Sherrill. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Gladys Askins of Petersburg and Margaret (Orestes) Meeks of Norcross, Ga.; an adopted daughter, Janice Williams (Carl) of Lorraine, Ohio; five grandchildren, LaTonya Askins of Murfreesboro, Mekesha Askins of Petersburg, Jodie Meeks of Johns Creek, Ga./Washington, D.C., Brianna Meeks of Washington, D.C., and Kolby Meeks of Cary, N.C.; one great-granddaughter, Chelsea Nobles of Murfreesboro; one brother, Robert Simpson of Louisville, Ky.; devoted friends in Fayetteville who checked on her regularly, Mattie Mae Edmiston, Vickie Kline, Mary Margaret Parks, Katherine Porter, Sammy Hampton, Freddie McKinney,  John Barron & sisters; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who cared deeply for her whether it was a visit or phone call. Services for Mrs. Stone will be held Saturday, July 14, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 305 Maple Street West in Fayetteville. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. with funeral following at 2 p.m. Burial will be at the Sulphur Springs Cemetery in Fayetteville. Services are in the care of Nelson & Sons Memorial Chapel.
