Sammy Tucker has announced his candidacy for a seat on the Lincoln County School Board, representing District 1.
He and his wife, Nickie, have been married for 24 years. They have two daughters, Samantha and Olivia, both of whom attended Blanche School. Samantha graduated from Lincoln County High School in 2014 and recently earned her bachelor’s degree from Athens State University. Olivia will be a sophomore at Lincoln County High School this fall.
Tucker and his family attend Kelly’s Creek Baptist Church. He has worked for the same employer, serving this county for 23 years. As a lifelong resident of Lincoln County, Tucker said he understands the importance of community. He has served the Blanche and Taft communities as a volunteer firefighter for over 20 years. He is an active member of the community, volunteering at various local, church and school events.
The Lincoln County Commission appointed Tucker to fill a vacancy on the school board in August 2017. His vision for the future is clear, he said. He supports the building of a new state-of-the-art school for students in District 1. His top priority is to provide safe and secure facilities for all students, teachers and staff in the county. He wants to ensure classrooms are equipped with the best resources to help local students succeed in academics and in life. Providing support to students, teachers, staff and parents is of utmost importance to him.
Tucker added that he would love to have the opportunity to continue to serve District 1 as its school board member and would greatly appreciate your vote and support in the August general election.
